SUPPORT THE CCA CINEMATHEQUE
MESSAGE FROM JASON
During its 25-year history, the CCA Cinematheque has remained one of America's finest arthouse cinemas. We've provided more than 30,000 screenings of more than 2,000 films from every corner of the globe, and hosted film festivals, filmmakers-in-residence and series of otherwise-impossible-to-see films.
In an age where the movies get dumb and dumber, the Cinematheque remains determined to show the best that cinema has to offer. As you might imagine, the arrival of online film rentals and the increasing dominance of Hollywood movies has made sustaining our arthouse cinemas more financially challenging. But the fight to keep these cultural treasures - which are as valuable to me as operas and museums - alive is a worthy one.
2009 was an outstanding year for us. Our regular programming included Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated films, works from around the world and rare archival films. In addition, we provided more than 70 special and festival screenings in partnerships with dozens of local schools and organizations, along with national entities including the Smithsonian, the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, the Santa Fe Opera and Bioneers. We also produced numerous educational events as well.
As you might imagine, our ticket and concession sales only cover a portion of our expenses. For the rest, we rely on memberships, corporate underwriters, foundation support and individual donors.
Thank you for supporting the CCA Cinematheque.
