Gallery hours: Tues-Sun, 12-8pm
Annica Cuppetelli (USA) and Cristobal Mendoza (Venezuela) collaborate on the creation of site-specific, multimedia installations that address issues of space, interaction, and materiality. For currents 2012, they present Notional Field, an interactive work in which the movement of viewer’s bodies influence the movement of the work. Comprised of video cameras, computer simulations, and moving projection, this project speaks to the complex relationship between humans and computers and the interface of real and virtual worlds.
The Vanish Series & Plenty of Time
Munoz Waxman Foyer Gallery
June 29-July 15, 2012
Gallery hours: Fri-Sun, 12-5pm
For currents 2012, Mary Tsiongas (Albuquerque) presents The Vanish Series, comprised of three compelling videos that inspire reflection on nature, technology and rapidly disappearing wilderness. Appropriating from 19th century iconic landscape painters who were intrigued by the romanticism of uninhabited terrain and using green screen techniques, she superimposes herself into the foreground of each painting and subtly interacts within the landscape. Also on view is Plenty of Time, a video projection that juxtaposes the way time is experienced differently by humans and by animals.

GARDEN II: House
Munoz Waxman Gallery
June 29 & 30, 2012
Performances begin at 8pm
GARDEN II: House is a collaboration between composer and video maker Chris Jonas (Santa Fe), the members of TILT Brass’ quartet (New York City), and the creative team of Littleglobe (Santa Fe). This hour-long musical performance takes place in the dark, within a projected video environment that envelops the movement and sound of the performers. The experience is synaesthetic - combining abstract and specific imagery, evoking expressive, atmospheric, metaphoric, psychological, and cross-cultural realms of place, dwelling, urban identity and the human environment. CCA and currents 2012 present two free performances of GARDEN II: House.
