SFO logoClassics to celebrate the Santa Fe Opera

The CCA’s second annual Santa Fe Opera Film Series brings Hollywood masterpieces to the big screen

The Santa Fe Opera (SFO) in association with the Center for Contemporary Art (CCA) will present a series of films related to the Opera’s 2009 Festival Season. After an opening fundraiser at the Lensic, all screenings will take place at the Cinematheque at the Center for Contemporary Art located at 1050 Old Santa Fe Trail.

Tickets are $9 with discounts for students, seniors and CCA and AIA members. Information and reservations: 982-1338, www.ccasantafe.org.

The season kicks off July 13 with a special screening of the Metropolitan Opera’s Daughter of the Regiment, preceded by an on-stage interview with the legendary Nathalie Dessay and SFO’s general director Charles McKay. Bette Davis in William Wyler's classic drama. Nominated for seven Oscars!!!

Camille 5 p.m. August 9
Greta Garbo and Robert Taylor in George Cukor's romance. "The great Garbo at her radiant peak, and certainly among the top five most romantic movies ever made." –TV Guide

Dodsworth 5 p.m. August 16
Catherine Wyler presents William Wyler's remarkable late-in-life romance. “By far the most sensitive, restrained, and effective piece of direction Wyler ever turned in ... achieves a measure of greatness through the dignity and depth of Walter Huston's superb interpretation." –Chicago Reader
