Nevada Wier is an award-winning photographer specializing in the remote corners of the globe and the cultures that inhabit them. She has been published in numerous national and international publications, including: NG Adventure, Geo, Islands, National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer, Outside, and Smithsonian. She is a Fellow of The Explorer's Club and a member of the Women's Geographic Society. Nevada is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Rudy Burckhardt (1914-1999) is best known for his photography of New York and other cities. In 1987 he had simultaneous New York exhibitions-a show of photos at Brooke Alexander and a film retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art. In 1997 he was the subject of a full-scale retrospective at the Institut Valencia d'Art Modern, in Valencia, Spain.

A native New Mexican, Ortega de Chamberlin’s mother was raised on the Zuni pueblo and her father was raised in the Navajo reservation. She studied in Italy and England (Royal Photographic Society) then moved to New York City where she became a member of “Vicious Circle”, an artists’ consortium. She now splits her time between Santa Fe, Nicaragua and Salt Lake City.

 

Arthur Leipzig’s career as a photographer fulfills the ideals of the great era of American photo-journalism. His start with the Photo League of the 1940s, his freelance work in the 1950s and ‘60s, and his years of full-time teaching illustrate the hardships of a life in photography. Leipzig’s iconic photograph illustrates the grand tradition of the classic street photographer. For 50 years he has roamed the streets of New York, capturing its moods, recording its faces, and documenting its myriad of activities.

Patrick Nagatani’s work has been exhibited internationally since 1976, including at the Art Institute of Boston; Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego; and the Royal Photographic Society, Bath, England. His work has been featured in numerous books, including Nuclear Enchantment (1991), Patrick Nagatani and Andrée Tracey (1987), Seizing the Light: A History of Photography (2000), and Photography (1998).

 

Internationally acclaimed German photographer Thomas Ruff has exhibited including solo shows at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Centre National de la Photographie in Paris, Chabot Museum in Rotterdam, and Tate Liverpool, among others. His work has appeared in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, International Foto-Triennale in Esslingen, Germany, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Documenta, Venice Biennale, Biennale of Sydney, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and Bienal de São Paulo. He lives and works in Düsseldorf.

David Scheinbaum has been photographing and teaching photography since the early 1970s. Born and raised in New York City, he moved to Santa Fe in 1978 to work with Beaumont Newhall and was Newhall’s assistant until his death in 1993. A self-taught black-and-white printer, David printed for Eliot Porter under his direct supervision, and for Beaumont Newhall, printing photographs for both Beaumont and his late wife, Nancy Newhall. He is currently in a solo exhibition at the National Gallery, Washington D.C.

Developing photographic images on glass is a process Santa Fe artist Margeaux has explored for years. Translucency is the foundation of this body of work, in which photographic images are printed on materials that allow the viewer to look beyond or through what is on the surface. Margeaux has shown throughout the country including: The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C; Denison University Art Gallery, Ohio; Artemisa Gallery, Chicago; and the Evanston Art Center; Illinois.

 

Robert Stivers was recently voted one of the top international photographers by Rotovision, London, England. His work is included in Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Victoria and Albert Museum. Articles about Robert Stivers and his work have appeared in THE New Yorker, Village Voice, Detour Magazine, and ARTnews.

Stephen Yadzinski began working for Megargee Vanderlinde Labs (M.V. Labs) in New York City printing for artists such as Annie Leibovitz, Antonin Kratochvil, and Steven Klein. In 1998, Yadzinski was recruited by an internationally recognized commercial photographer to shoot for clients included Boeing, Epson, and Lincoln Financial Group. Yadzinski traveled around the world to photograph such locations as Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Vanuatu, Fiji, the Philippines and the Bahamas, as well as throughout Europe and the US.

Janet Russek’s work focuses on her environment: her family, the landscape she lives in, her life events. Russek assisted photographer Eliot Porter from l980 through l990. Using natural light, they are imbued with a sense of dark places and mystery. They are at once sensuous, provocative, and symbolic. Russek, who was trained in printmaking, printed these images on a soft matte paper, enhancing the mood of the photograph.

Baron Wolman joined Rolling Stone Magazine as its first Chief Photographer in 1967. Wolman has shot some of the biggest names in rock-and-roll history, including Janis, Frank Zappa, the Who, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, The Doors, George Harrison, and, the Rolling Stones. Baron’s photos are exhibited in fine art galleries around the world. Wolman was also one of the official photographers at Woodstock.
